A new masterplan submitted by YTL, the firm behind the redevelopment of the former Filton Airfield, attempts to show how the number of new homes being built on the site could be increased from the currently approved 2,675 to as many as 6,500. A local apiarist has rescued a colony of bees from a massive nest discovered inside a redundant chimney stack above a building on the A38 Gloucester Road in Patchway. The rescue came after the builder who was working on the property had noticed “a few bees” flying around the chimney stack, which was about to be demolished.

A Patchway man has been ordered to pay a total of £2,950 in fines and costs after being prosecuted for waste related offences following the discovery of a fly-tip in nearby Little Stoke. The man went to the Sort It centre in Station Road but it was closed when he got there, so he emptied the waste into a nearby entranceway.
