Students at Patchway Community School are celebrating a “well-deserved” set of GCSE examination results, despite experiencing several years of disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The proportion of students achieving both English and Mathematics at Grade 4 or above was 42 percent (compared to 40 percent in 2019), while Grades 7 to 9 were recorded across a wide range of subjects.
A spokesperson for the school said:
“All of us at Patchway Community School are thrilled that learners will be celebrating a well-deserved set of GCSE achievements.”
“Considering this is the first year following the pandemic where all subjects have examined on all of the content in the GCSE specifications again, learners have coped magnificently.”
“There have been some amazing individual performances with almost all of our students gaining what they needed, to be able to go onto either post 16 studies or apprenticeships/training. There have been some really strong outcomes, particularly in the separate Sciences, Photography, and Health & Social Care. We have also seen significant improvements in the outcomes for learners in Mathematics and Hospitality & Catering.”

- Jacob Bevan achieved 4xGrade9s, 1xGrade8, 3xGrade7s and 1xGrade6
- Zeineb Djenouri achieved 2xGrade9s, 3xGrade8s, 3xGrade7s and 2xGrade6s
- Kwan Ting Chiu achieved 1xGrade9, 1xGrade8, 3xGrade7s, 1xGrade6 and 2xGrade5s
- Marika Sumila achieved 1xGrade9, 1xGrade8, 3xGrade7s, 2xGrade6s and 2xGrade5s

“We are really proud of our Year 11 students’ achievements. They have all worked hard throughout the two years of their GCSE courses and every one of these superb grades reflects that commitment. Students have shown tremendous resilience in their studies and today it is wonderful to be able to celebrate their academic achievements.
