Is it your New Year’s resolution to learn something new? Maybe you want to develop your parenting skills and learn how to lead an active and healthy family life or maybe you’re interested in learning more about cooking and basic food nutrition?
These are just some of the free and low cost courses on offer from Southern Brooks Community Partnership (SBCP) which will be running in the local area throughout 2012.
The first course, Active Families, covers topics such as family relationships, parenting, healthy eating, sleep, exercise and play. It’s suitable for parents of children aged up to eleven and is free for people who receive certain benefits.
The five week course is running in Patchway and Filton starting on the following dates:
- Patchway Course starts Tuesday 17th January, 10am – 12pm at Coniston Community Centre
- Filton Course starts Wednesday 1st February 6.30 – 8.30pm at Filton Surestart Centre
Speaking about the courses, Helen Humphries, from Southern Brooks Community Partnership said:
“Our courses are all about meeting the needs of the local community and they are ideal for people who have been out of education for a long time or those people who learn best outside of a school or college environment. All our tutors are friendly and supportive, helping you to learn new skills, meet new people and have fun!”
