Police are appealing for information about an assault in Patchway last Tuesday night (4th October 2011).
The incident occurred between 8pm and 9pm.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was at a kebab van in Callicroft Road. He saw a younger man being assaulted and when he stepped in to stop the assault he was struck with a metal implement.
The suspect left the scene in a silver car with blue wheels which is believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa.
The suspect is described as a white man, 5′ 8″ tall, and in his mid-20s. He had an athletic build, short dark gelled hair and was wearing a white top with blue stripes and bright blue trainers.
An investigation is underway to identify the person responsible and locate the young man who was originally assaulted.
